LONG WAY DOWN

Facing a three month, 24,000 km motorcycle trip from Scotland to South Africa, Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman have an ominous start with a broken leg, delayed visas and airport detainment.

Stuck in bandit country with mechanical issues, the terrain proves to be the least of Ewan and Charley's challenges when they visit the site of a horrific 2005 massacre: a local primary school.

Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman leave Rome's congestion, biking to the original Star Wars set in Tunisia and beyond, along Libya's scenic coastal roads, facing exhaustion and trouble along the way.

Making their way from John O'Groats at the top of Scotland, Ewan and Charley visit family and a children's hospice before facing a tight schedule if they are to make the ferry from Sicily to Tunisia.

Weary after five weeks without a break, Ewan falls hard from his bike as he and Charley navigate their way through Sudan and Ethiopia. Emotions come to a head during this all time low for the pair.

Reunited with their team in Egypt, everyone's spirits are lifted when Ewan and Charley take an incredible ride by the pyramids, before navigating countless checkpoints with an armed Egyptian escort.

Series finale. Ewan and Charley are excited and emotional as they travel through Africa's southern-most reaches and are joined by a convoy of bikers on the way to their last stop in Cape Town.

Struggling for hours across a muddy river, Ewan and Charley reach soaring highs with an unforgettable plane ride over Kenya and heartbreaking lows in Uganda where they meet former child soldiers.

A chance encounter leads Ewan and Charley on a frantic search for proper suits before they meet the President of Rwanda. An even bigger surprise awaits Ewan at the Tanzania/Malawi border: his wife.

As Eve's riding improves, Ewan is in for another surprise visitor on the trip. He and Charley camp out with a local tribe, meet an albino croc and one of them braves a bungee jump over Victoria Falls.
