US Highway 1

Posted by Mark Moskvitch from Australia

We travelled this famous stretch of road in January 2010 during the highest tides for 10 years.

It snakes its way along the California coast often close enough for waves to crash over it.

We pressed on despite numerous rock slides to traverse a coastal stretch at once beautiful and quite dangerous as we tried to stay ahead of massive thunderstorms.

This photo picks up the looming storm weather as it moved across the US west coast, threatening floods, mudslides and engulfed coastlines.
