FOXTEL AUSTAR

On August 7, 1942 two of the best fighter pilots in the world clashed above the South Pacific.

The dogfight between American Navy pilot James 'Pug' Southerland and the Imperial Navy's top ace, Saburo Sakai was one of the greatest aerial duels of World War II. Astonishingly, both men survived to tell the tale and wrote accounts of the action of that August day. They detailed every loop, roll and bullet of the combat. The wreck of Southerland's plane has just been found and every bullet hole tells a story. Breath-taking CGI, stomach-churning real action sequences using restored World War II planes, and unseen archive gun-camera footage takes you into the cockpit to explore the deadly art of the dogfight.
